Theresa M. Davis, R.N., M.S.N.
Operations Director/Patient Care Director eICU
INOVA Health System

Theresa Davis, R.N., M.S.N. is the Operations Director in the eICU at INOVA Health System. She has been a nurse for 20 years at Inova Health System with a specialty in Neuro/Trauma Intensive Care and Nursing Administration. She has been the nursing director in the eICU since it was implemented in October, 2004 and is currently a student in the Ph.D. program at George Mason University.

As operations director, Ms. Davis oversees the eICU that is connected to multiple area hospitals and assist in monitoring patients remotely by providing a 'safety net'. When a heart rate or oxygen level changes, nurses at eICU can go into the room virtually through use of camera technology. Ms. Davis oversees the eICU that is connected to area hospitals, directs the nursing staff, works with troubleshooting issues, works with VisICU (software) and gains staff feedback about the system. The task is to be collaborative with each of the hospitals and provide intensivists even in rural areas that might not otherwise have access. The goal is to create a seamless electronic system and is not meant to be a replacement for face-to-face contact.

Ms. Davis has presented on e-manager at Spotlight on Critical Care, George Mason University, Educators in the Workplace, VISICU Users Group, Inova Health System Auxiliary.
